A working group meeting was held

On February 23-24, 2023 on the basis of JSC “National Holding “QazBioPharm” organized and held a meeting of the working group on biological safety. Members of the WG at the meeting discussed issues on the development of a methodology to assess the economic damage from endemic for Kazakhstan especially dangerous infections, the effectiveness of preventive measures. Representatives of subsidiaries of RSE “Research Institute of Biological Safety Problems”, RSE “Research Institute of Biological Safety Problems” MH RK, LLP “Kazakh Research Veterinary Institute” and LLP “National Center of Biotechnology” MH RK, as well as specialists of the Holding participated in the WG meeting. The meeting was held in offline and online format.

The opening speech was made by Acting General Director of JSC “National Holding “QazBioPharm” Zhylgeldi Aldan Zashituly and Deputy General Director of JSC “National Holding “QazBioPharm” Bekshin Zhandarbek Mukhtarovich on biological safety, where they voiced the significance and importance of this meeting. The working format was started with the analysis of epidemiological and epizootic situation on especially dangerous infections on the territory of Kazakhstan.

Then the working group discussed the inclusion of the list of input data and indicators to be applied and used in the methodology of economic damage assessment from especially dangerous infections on the example of brucellosis, anthrax, Congo-Crimean hemorrhagic fever and cattle nodular dermatitis. The choice of methodology and formula for calculating economic damage from especially dangerous infections (brucellosis, anthrax, CCHL) was also discussed.

At the end of the seminar, the specialists gave justifications, preliminary calculations and project preparation according to the selected methods of calculation of economic damage from especially dangerous infections endemic to Kazakhstan.
